Zhen Yang
MEng, MScAC
Jr. Data Scientist
The coolest things I've done in my career are:
-
Developed a model to detect false-positive rates in medical images and published more than five journal and conference papers during two years of master study
-
Switched from Biomedical Engineering to Computer Science, hoping to make more contributions in healthcare from a data science perspective
If I could have a super power it would be:
-
Time travel (to witness important events - i.e. how I was born)
I'm a "closet" fan of:
-
George R. R. Martin
The nerdiest thing I do in my spare time is:
-
Reading novels
Three things still on my bucket list are:
-
Run a marathon
-
Road trip across the country
-
See the Northern Lights
My past experience includes:
I am an MScAC student in Computer Science at University of Toronto. I received my BEng (Northeastern University) and MEng (Shanghai Jiao Tong University) in Biomedical Engineering in China. My master’s research was to use dynamic FDG-PET imaging to differentiate malignancy from Inflammation. As I realized the importance of data driven methods in healthcare research, I continued my study in data science.
My recent interest focuses on Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning for Health. And I would like to apply highly efficient, accurate and cost-effective data science techniques in the healthcare field.
