Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) are a class of neural networks typically used to process a sequence of inputs. This webinar will go over the basics of RNNs and examples of applications – including applications in healthcare. Overall, this webinar will provide a high level overview of RNNs.

Webinar: Forecasting and optimization for a nursing resource team (NRT)

In this webinar, Neal Kaw, a data scientist with LKS-CHART, reviews forecasting and optimization models developed for the Nursing Resource Team (NRT) at St. Michael's Hospital. In particular, the time series forecasting models predict volumes of Registered Nurse absences; the optimization model accordingly determines the optimal amount of nursing capacity; and an interactive tool allows decision makers to understand how the optimal solution changes depending on input parameters.

Guide: A Time Series Tool

One of the most common analyses conducted by any decision support unit at a hospital is a time series analysis as it can help with understanding seasonal variances in hospital volumes, planning for volume surges, and with evaluating targeted interventions. This video guide for the time series forecasting and intervention analysis tool shows hospital analysts how to use the tool to conduct a rigorous reproducible time series analysis.

About LKS-CHART

The Li Ka Shing Centre for Healthcare Analytics Research & Training (LKS-CHART) is a service based healthcare data analytics group housed at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Canada. We currently focus on the hospital setting and make sense of healthcare data so our partners can make better decisions, increase hospital efficiency, and improve patient care.
