The coolest things I've done in my career are:
-
Ran an ethnographic research study focusing on communication between clinicians during multidisciplinary rounds in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
-
Was awarded the Dieter W. Jahns Student Practitioner Award for a group project on User-Centered Design Recommendations for Augmented Reality in Navigated Spinal Procedures
-
Conducted a usability evaluation of a medical device inside a moving ambulance
If I could have a super power it would be:
The ability to upload skills/knowledge directly to my brain (like in the Matrix)
I'm a "closet" fan of:
Home reno shows
The nerdiest thing I do in my spare time is:
Watch Mario64 speedruns
Three things still on my bucket list are:
-
Travel to the Canadian territories
-
Ride the Trans-Siberian Railway
-
Learn woodworking
My past experience includes:
I received my BEng in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Guelph, and my MHSc in Clinical Engineering from the University of Toronto. I conducted ethnographic research in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for my master’s thesis, observing over 100 hours of multidisciplinary rounds and conducting interviews with all relevant stakeholders in order to understand the current rounding practices and how they could be improved. Prior to joining the Data Science and Advanced Analytics team I worked at the UHN, running evaluations to assess and improve the safety and usability of high-risk medical devices.
