Access the Data
Learn how staff and researchers at St. Michael's can access the data for their own quality improvement initiative.
If you're a researcher or clinician at St. Michael's working on a quality improvement initiative, you don't need to work on a project with LKS-CHART to get access to the data. Instead, a St. Michael’s Hospital data and analytics service –called Decision Support – can help staff with their data needs for quality improvement measures. Please follow the steps below to get access to the data.
Note: This process is for internal use only and is intended for Staff, Researchers and Clinicians at St. Michael's.
Get access to the data
Step 1
Determine eligibility for access to the data in the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
-
Access to data in our Enterprise Data Warehouse is restricted to clinicians and researchers at St. Michael’s Hospital.
-
Clinicians include physicians, nurses, and health disciplines. Researchers include Scientists, Associate Scientists and Project Investigators.
-
Please verify that you have valid St. Michael’s Hospital credentials before proceeding (including an access badge, a St. Michael’s email address, etc.)
Step 2
Obtain approval to access data in the Enterprise Data Warehouse
-
If you are a Researcher or Clinician at St. Michael's seeking access to data for the purposes of quality improvement, you should begin by reviewing Compass data holdings and schedule a consultation with a decision support specialist to determine your data needs. You should then obtain approval through St. Michael’s ReQuIST system. Once approval has been granted, your decision support specialist will provide you with a custom data cut to the specifications approved by ReQuIST. (For Internal Use Only; Click Here for a step-by-step guide on how to externally access internal documents).
-
If you are seeking access to data for the purposes of research, you should begin by reviewing Compass data holdings and schedule a consultation with a decision support specialist to determine your data needs. Scientists should then submit an application with the St. Michael’s Research Ethics Board.
Step 3
Receive access to data in the Enterprise Data Warehouse
-
Once approval has been granted, your decision support specialist will provide you with a custom data cut to the specifications approved by the REB, or by ReQuiST.
-
Access to your data cut is granted for a limited term, as detailed in your approval.
