Leading the data analytics revolution in healthcare.
The Li Ka Shing Centre for Healthcare Analytics Research & Training (LKS-CHART) is a service based healthcare data analytics group housed at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Canada. We currently focus on the hospital setting and make sense of healthcare data so our partners can make better decisions, increase hospital efficiency, and improve patient care.
Our talented team of data scientists use scientifically rigorous methods to conduct meaningful analyses that generate data-driven insights. Our mandate is to help our clinician and management partners to make ‘real world’ decisions that improve patient care.

What makes LKS-CHART unique?
Hospitals collect a lot of data - but the data is typically stored in different places by different departments, making it difficult for healthcare teams to see the big picture and make informed decisions.
With full engagement from St. Michael's leadership, we developed LKS-CHART, a full-service healthcare data analytics centre unlike any other in Canada. Many of our data scientists hold faculty appointments at the University of Toronto and have leading-edge research expertise. As a service-based centre, we engage clinicians and decision makers from the start, focusing on the questions that matter most to them.
Combining proven study templates with standardized data extraction and analysis algorithms, our team is able to turn around insights within days. Our team then works with leaders, managers and staff to turn these insights into action. We take the same rigorous approach to evaluating the outcomes of these interventions to ensure they’re making a difference!
Who do we work with?
The LKS-CHART team collaborates with hospital management, clinicians and researchers at St. Michael's Hospital on data analytics projects that ensure the fastest and most successful path to improve hospital efficiency and patient care.
Are you part of a data science program, or a researcher or staff member of St. Michael’s Hospital? Do you have an idea for a big data project that has potential to improve patient care? We'd love to hear from you. Visit our Collaborate With Us page to find out more.
